AwardsMichael E. Toaff, MD, MSc is pleased to announced that his web site, Alternatives to Hysterectomy, has been awarded the distinction of iGuide, conferred by Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. Dr. Toaff's web site was selected by the Editorial Content Management Group of Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. which decides what topics are covered and what information is detailed within these topics to supplement their online encyclopaedia. The Editorial Content Management Group identifies and screens other web sites to supplement most topics and content represented within the online Encyclopaedia Britannica. These web sites, called iGuide sites, are then presented as recommended resources for Encyclopaedia Britannica online readers. Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. does this because Britannica realizes other sites also offer high quality content and wants to share access to such other content with their members. This means that when Encyclopaedia Britannica members search on relevant topics, not only is Britannica information presented, but a link to Alternatives to Hysterectomy is also presented for that topic (see the Britannica iGuide reference to Alternatives to Hysterectomy at http://www.britannica.com). This also makes it easier for sites such as Alternatives to Hysterectomy to link back to any Encyclopaedia Britannica articles, even articles that normally require a subscription. As such, a link to any Britannica article from an external referrer will provide a free and complete sample of that particular article. The article is not truncated and it does not require a subscription to read. Dr. Toaff is honored to have such a distinguished award conferred upon the Alterntives to Hysterectomy web site, and thanks Encyclopaedea Britannica, Inc. for this recognition.
